William J. Quirk is Member/Owner of The Law Office of William J. Quirk, Esq., LLC located in Hackensack, New Jersey. He is a member of the Bergen County Bar Association, and sits as a co-chair of the Municipal Court committee for 2022-2023.
Mr. Quirk was born and raised in Bergen County. He graduated summa cum laude from The College of New Jersey, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Mr. Quirk then went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey in 2004. Mr. Quirk served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable William Meehan (Ret) Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division in Bergen County Superior Court from 2004-2005. Mr. Quirk briefly worked as an Associate in an Immigration and Criminal Law firm prior to founding Meehan & Quirk, LLC in 2008, until 2016 when Mr. Quirk became a solo practitioner founding The Law Office of William J. Quirk, Esq., LLC.
Throughout Mr. Quirk's eighteen-year legal career, he has practiced immigration law throughout the country. He has had the pleasure to welcome hundreds of new Americans through the naturalization process, and has begun the immigration journeys of individuals from five different continents. He has provided assistance to individuals at Embassies and Consulates throughout the world. Mr. Quirk has defended the rights of many immigrants facing removal from the United States, and has argued successfully for people to remain in the United States before Immigration Courts throughout the country, as well as at the Board of Immigration Appeals.
Mr. Quirk is a highly seasoned criminal attorney, having argued criminal cases in most of the twenty-one counties in the state. His experiences with motion and trial practice have helped many people avoid lengthy jail and prison sentences. As well, William has served as one of the Municipal Public Defenders for Palisades Interstate Court in Alpine, New Jersey since 2006. He has extensive Municipal and Criminal law background ranging from the defense of motor vehicle violations, drug charges, domestic violence, criminal issues with an immigration background, and DWI defense.
He has been an adjunct professor at St. Thomas Aquinas College since 2011. William is one of the longest tenured adjunct professors at St. Thomas Aquinas College. He has mentored many students interested in graduate and law school. At STAC, he has taught classes on Constitutional Law, Immigration Law, American Politics and Criminal Law. In 2019, he gave the annual Constitution Day lecture to the faculty and students, discussing the issues regarding the Sixth Amendment's right to counsel and its inapplicability to the Immigration Courts.
